How the bill is calculated
Buildings are free and never metered. Saturating a building — getting everyone in it covered — is the number the whole product optimises for, so it is always free and always encouraged. What a paid plan meters is the workforce: the admins and staff who operate EVAC. The people an organisation serves — students, patients, visitors, followers, anyone checked in as an occupant — are never counted.
Over-committing a seat count is never a wall. If more staff join than were contracted, nobody is blocked from a roster and no dialog interrupts an emergency — it is a fact the billing screen states and the renewal reconciles, not a refusal.
A failed card never stops an evacuation
Billing state can freeze administration. It can never touch alerting. A school whose finance officer left and whose card expired has not stopped being a school with children in it — so activation, delivery, the confirm link and the all-clear read no billing state at all. A lapsed payment blocks new sites, reports and integrations; it never blocks an alert. Downgrading never deletes a compliance report you have already been issued.
Dedicated tenancy is an add-on, never a refusal
Every tier runs on shared infrastructure with database-enforced tenant isolation — row-level security, a non-owner database role, and a cross-tenant leak test that gates every release. That is the default, and we stand behind it. Some buyers still require their own tenancy; that is a priced deployment add-on on Pro and Platform — most often a dedicated database on shared compute — never free and never a "no". The Duress evidence platform — early access
For police, security firms and government buyers who need a full digital-evidence platform — immutable storage, chain of custody, read-audit and lawful disposal — Duress is building a dedicated evidence service alongside EVAC. It does not have a published price yet.
